Following the 2022 Premier League pre-season draft we have crafted an opening round with matchups between half a dozen teams that drafted players delisted by their 2022 Round 1 opponents, with the exception being Canberra vs Korea - where Korea drafted the Conservatives Sarah Allan but failed to draft a Kickers discard in return

Kyoto vs Lima - the Abbie McKay/Mim Strom Cup
==> last time they met Lima won by 27

Canberra vs Korea - the high scorers in their previous clash have inspired the Kiara Bowers/Tyanna Smith Cup
==> last time they met Korea won by 25

Vixens vs Royals - the Eden Zanker/Elise O'Dea Cup
==> last time they met Vixens won by 23

Storm vs Legends - the Daisy Pearce/Mikala Cann Cup
==> last time they met the Storm won by 122

Please enter your teams via this link http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagues.php?leagueId=22 and post it here to help get discussion flowing.

    Cheers

Quick indicative results from the first three games look like:

    Lima 793 (Eva 105, White 100, Swanson 86) def Kyoto 730 (McDonald 94, Bruton 81, Ashmore 78)

    Canberra 750 (Bonnici 96, Conti 94, Prespakis 79) def Korea 642 (Bowers 123, Brennan 77, Moody 71)

    Vixens 743 (Miller 91, Lambert 87, Zanker 82) def Lagos 715 (Marinoff 97, Hanks 97, Gay 72)

Scores from Stuttgart vs Las Vegas to come.

    @dmandrews @Peter W @Chloe @hoschke118

All subject to change but for Kyoto's sake it would need to a hell of a lot.... And potentially losing Bri Davey and Kate Lutkins is going to hurt!!

Official scores have now been declared.

The Abbie McKay/Mim Strom Cup was won by 71 points by Mim Strom's new club (Abbie McKay's old club) @hoschke118

The Kiara Bowers/Tyanna Smith Cup was won by Canberra by 108 points despite Tyanna Smith herself being out for the year and Bowers running amok as she always does for the visiting Kickers.

In pleasing news for the competition we have a coach ready and willing to step into the hotseat for Canberra who in a historic week for the club replaced most of their deadwood in the PSD and inspired by the debut of 2022 Premier League Draft Pick #1 and future GOAT Georgie Prespakis recorded their first every win after a series of unlucky high scoring losses in season 2021.

Cities across the globe are trying to entice the new ownership to shift the glamour franchise from their Canberra base, and to bring them a slice of the world's most prestigious fantasy footy competition to their doorstep, so stay tuned for further news.

In other matches - 2021 Minor Premiers Vancouver @dmandrews defeated Lagos by 7 points in a match decided late in the final stanza, with the Eden Zanker/Elise O'Dea Cup going to Eden Zanker's new side (Elise O'Dea's old side) in part due to Zanker racking up 82 points to O'Dea's undisciplined 36 effort in her Royals debut.

Finally the 2021 Premiers Stuttgart easily dispatched Las Vegas to win the Daisy Pearce/Mikalya Cann Cup despite @Pearcey47's new recruit and namesake Daisy Pearce edging Legends delistee Cann 42-31 in their head to head battle, the eventual match margin blowing out to 178 points. Notably for Las Vegas, despite being named Ash Brazill was AWOL having missed a connecting flight from London to Stuttgart in a small leave window granted while representing the nation in her other sporting endeavours.

With Round 1 of the Premier League soon becoming a distant memory the teams now ready themselves to board their private jets to navigate the journey to their Round 2 matches commencing this Friday.
