    Round 2 of the 2020 ORFFW season sees our 12 teams scrambling to sign 3 top-up players each from the ORFFW Free Agent Pool as the competition manages its second major COVID crisis after 2020's untimely early finish.

    Here are the week’s matches, once again in the usual short and sweet pre-match preview format.

    @Len @FreoDockers
    Bathurst Belles (0-1, 603) vs Katanning Krushers (1-0, 655)

    Topups – Bathurst = Krstel Petrevski, Shannon Campbell, Tegan Cunningham and Kataning = ,Brenna Tarrant, Jordyn Allen, Ruby Schleiche

    The home side have the toughest opening fixtures of any side in the ORFFW with this weeks match against 2020 runners up Katanning following their opening round trouncing by the 2020 premiers from Lake St Clair. Meanwhile the Krushers narrowly scraped through last week and will need to improve if they are to nab an important early season road win.

    @marconofrio @dmandrews
    Georgia Geeniuses (0-1, 620 from 12 )vs Lake St Clair Devils (1-0, 762)

    Topups – Georgia = Courtney Hodder, Nadia von Bertouch, Aishling Sheridan and LSC = Danielle Marshall, Jade Ellenger, Tahlia Meyer

    This match is a 2020 Semi Final that never was due to our first ever (previous) COVID crisis. Both teams were in great form in Round 1 and if @marconofrio can find a way to field 13 players the home side are every chance of upsetting the red hot Devils.

    @anthak @Peter W
    Pomona Nymphs (1-0, 753) vs Timboon Trailblazers (1-0, 662)

    Topups – Pomona = Ashleigh Guest, Claudia Whitfort, Lucy Single and Timboon = Daisy D'Arcy, Georgie Rankin, Taylor Smith

    Pomona once again features in the clash of the round as the unbeaten sides displayed similar form to their 2020 seasons where they finished in 5th and 3rd places respectively. The victors of this match will be well established in the ORFFW top 4 and greatly improve their chances of qualifying for the 2021 finals.

    @FreoDockers @ver_redit_optatum
    Sandgate Sugar Gliders (0-1, 627 from 12.5) vs Glenbrook Galahs (0-1, 703)

    Topups – Sandgate = Jacqueline Parry, Madeleine Guerin, Megan Fitzsimon and Glenbrook = Eleanor Brown, Greta Bodey, Jacqueline Vogt,

    Both teams were strong round 1 performers and are will be fighting hard to bounce back with a much needed W in Round 2.

    @Tracey TTH
    Scone Sirens (1-0, 591) vs Manildra Mystix (1-0, 758)

    Topups – Scone = Ebony O'Dea, Maddison Levi, Shelley Heath and Manildra = Alison Brown, Brooke Vernon, Deanna Berry

    Round 1 saw impressive wins for the 11th and 9th ranked sides from season 2020. A NSW ORFFW derby is always a hardfought occasion and especially so with the carrot of a 2-0 start to the 2021 ORFFW season.

    @That KI Guy @Pearcey47
    Vivonne Bay Valkeries (0-1, 577) vs Legana Legends (0-1, 502)

    Topups – Vivonne Bay = Cheyanne Hammond, Courtney, Wakefield, Stacey Livingstone and Legana = Elizabeth Keaney, Kate Shierlaw, Nicole Bresnehan

    The two sides will be keen to move on quickly from sub 600 point scores in the opening round. Despite the nightmare week on the scoreboard the impressive youth for both teams will be ready to step up as each of these proud (fantasy) football clubs tries their darnedest to avoid the a dreaded 0-2 start.

    --------

    COVID ADMIN - please note the top-up players listed above and also make an effort to understand the top-up process (link to be provided when a thread is posted later) so that as far as possible we avoid mass confusion, donuts and/or forfeits in Round 2.

    REGULAR ADMIN - Please make sure that your 18 player squad is entered into TS Leagues nice and early and SAVED correctly, I would recommend doing this as early as possible on Thursday and then resubmitting before each match following progressive naming of AFLW teams across the round (ie Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 530pm) and before the round lockout scheduled for the opening Sunday AFLW match.
    http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagueTeam.php

    (as of Thursday morning we have XX of 12 teams submitted without Adelaide, Freo, GWS and WCE players but let's please make this 12 of 12 asap so we don't have forfeits or understrength teams in avoidable situations)

    Once again we hope you will enjoy all of the ORFFW action this week and if you are super keen to follow proceedings live make sure to download the AFLW app to see the AFLW fantasy scores and cheer your side on throughout the weekend, noting your opposition is shown on the following link.

    Since the COVID rules were advised a lot has changed and we now have a full AFLW round.

    https://womens.afl/news/58564/it-s-on-dockers-and-eagles-match-to-go-ahead-in-r2

    @dmandrews @Pearcey47 @Peter W @FreoDockers @marconofrio @Tiny_doughnut @ver_redit_optatum @Len @Tracey @That KI Guy @anthak

    All ORFFW squads should be reviewed, as they were manually adjusted following round 1 to remove Adelaide, GWS, Freo and WCE players when their Round 2 games were cancelled (temporarily). Also players have been moved between lines and to and from the interchange, please make sure they are where you want them.

    There may be Carlton and WB players in the 13 that you don't want and these will need to be removed prior to lockout if possible. Given the short notice if anyone has a Carlton and WB player in their line-up when they were not in their Round 1 line-up they may apply either late on Friday night or on Saturday morning prior to the first Saturday lockout for this player to be manually removed.

    Please note that this week's ORFFW lockout takes effect from the first Sunday match (NM vs STK) and the round is a rolling lockout up to that point.

    It would be appreciated if teams can also be posted below - as a one off - to avoid mass confusion.

    Thanks
    TTH

    Lake St Clair Devils Round 2 team

    Out: Jesse Tawhio-Wardlaw
    In: Catherine Phillips

    Def: Emma Swanson, Meghan McDonald, Sarah Allen ((Tahlia Randall)
    Mid: Monique Conti, Kirsty Lamb, Hannah Dunn, Lily Mithen (Teah Charlton)
    Ruc: Eden Zanker (Jesse Tawhio-Wardlaw)
    Fwd: Jasmine Garner, Emma King, Sophie Abbatangelo (Tait Mackrill)
    Int: Catherine Phillips, Stephanie Chiocci (Amber Ward)

    After a strong performance in the second’s last weekend midfielder Cat Phillips has been brought into the LSC Devils side to replace ruck/forward Jesse Tawhio-Wardlaw who has been omitted and is the only change from the Round 1 team.

    At the 2021 PSD the Devils recruited several ex Georgia Geeniuses players including Lily Mithen who we selected with our first Round pick at 12 overall, these ex GG players have assisted with the opposition analysis for our much anticipated Round 2 road trip to play the Georgia Geeniuses.

    @Peter W (and others) - topups were intended to fill in for missing players due to the bye. As you hhave named your GWS, ADEL, FREO and WCE players then both Ranking and D'Arcy are not eligible to be named in your 18. Apologies for any confusion,

    I hvae deleted these players so currently you have 14 playes named, have missed Lochlands game and have Barber named for her debut on Saturday but not named in your team.

    Mids that can fill the M4 position but are curently elsewhere in your side are and Chloe Molloy and Rocky Cranston, your current F1 and F2. You will need to move one of them before the Collingwood and Geelong game commences and their forward spot with either Barber or Bannan.

    As we did not pick up the error initially I will allow you to name Nell Morris-Dalton as your Interchange Emergency (backdated), this,will mean you have cover for Maddy Gay (IC1) who did not make the Melbourne side. You currently have 2 IC emergencies and the other one (Bannan) will need to be moved elsewhere in your lineup whether as an emergency or onfield.

    Mid-way through the 3rd quarter unofficial scores have the visiting Mystix 9/481 leading the Sirens @Tracey 6/239.

    It's Grider for Scone vs Drennan for Maildra in the next one before big guns Bennett, Parker and Hatchard lace up the boots against Chelsea Randall and Metcalfe running out for their opponents.

    Finally it's another contest with Scone holding the numerical advantage with Duffy, Roux and B Smith attempting to run down the Mystix lead in the final straight with Ebony Antonio as the sole opposition.

    A massive Sunday afternoon has seen Scone @Tracey snatch the lead late in the final quarter and hold on to win by a single digit margin (8 points - EDIT actually 4 points !!), both sides await official scores to confirm the outcome.

    Go you good Galahs, I’m sorry for neglecting you lately, stoked to get the highest score of the round off the back of great work from Blackburn, Bonnici and Patrikios.

    (always nice in a week when GWS get smashed...)

    828 was the 3rd highest ORFFW score ever and would have been the highest except for the out of position penalty for O'Dwyer filling in down back. Glenbrook are a real dark horse for this year's top 4.

    Awesome... gotta bring it in the clutch games though like round 1!

    Also thought O'Dwyer scored 50% of 39 but no, that's the reduced score. 77 is huge and great signs from her.

    A win for the Valks!
    Pretty stoked with the effort from our rookies so far and a impromptu ruck stand in by Gore.
    As, likely also-rans this year, we'll take all the positives we can from this early season grit.

    Round 2 of ORFFW action saw margins of 4, 58, 106, 113, 115 and 263 points with the respective winners being Scone @Tracey, Glenbrook @ver_redit_optatum, Vivonne Bay @That KI Guy, Pomona @anthak, Lake St Clair @dmandrews and Katanning @FreoDockers

    Scone, Glenbrook and Sandgate @Tiny_doughnut set their club’s highest ever scores with the Sugar Gliders unfortunate to be matched against the might of a rampaging 12.5 player Galahs side.

    At the other end of the spectrum Bathurst @Len and Timbrook @Peter W set franchise record low scores, with Bathurst having a nightmare week and the misfortune of registering the competitions first sub 500 score.

    The heartstopper at Scone was the competitions tightest ever finish while the blowout at Bathurst was the 2nd highest margin ever recorded. The Galahs and Krushers recorded their highest ever winning margin while the Legends @Pearcey47 and Belles suffered club record highest losing margins.

    As I start to properly record the ORFFW's history the most glaring stat is that after 48 games and 12 scores of 775 or more Sandgate has somehow conceded 4 of them in a shocking run of fixturing luck, apologies to @Tiny_doughnut .

    After 2 rounds the ORFFW ladder is split into 3 groups of 4, with the points for and against of some sides suggesting a shake up as the competition fixture evens out and the cream of 2021 begins rising to the top over the next 5 weeks of competition.

    The Lake St Clair Devils have been very consistent in the first two rounds, scoring 762 in Round 1 followed by 776 in Round 2 to win both games and be on top of the ladder. In both games the Devils have had the players ranked second to fifth on the ground with an opposition player being best afield.

    In Round 2 Georgia Geeniuses midfielder Emma Kearney scored 105 points to be best afield whilst it was a mix of old and new for the Devils vote-getters. Two midfielders recruited by the LSC Devils at the 2021 pre-season draft polled votes – Cat Phillips (92 points) and Lily Mithen (89) polling four votes and three votes respectively. Phillips made her LSC Devils debut in her second stint at the club, having been drafted at the 2020 MSD before being delisted at the end of the season without having played a senior game. Ex Geeniuses player Mithen was an asset on the field as well as with the opposition analysis insights she was able to provide on her former team. A couple of Devils usual suspects in forward/midfielder Jasmine Garner (85 points) and midfielder Monique Conti (84) polled two votes and one vote respectively.
